PORT Stephens councillor Ken Jordan has won the Liberal Party preselection ballot for the state seat of Port Stephens.
Mr Jordan, a teacher at All Saints College, Maitland, defeated his only rival Jaimie Abbott, a RAAF Williamtown public relations officer and former Bob Baldwin staffer.
The secret ballot, conducted at the Nelson Bay Bowling Club on Wednesday night, was made up of 38 Liberal Party branch members and officers from the state executive.
Mr Jordan will contest the seat at the March 28 election after the withdrawal of incumbent MP Craig Baumann.
The Liberals enjoy a 14 per cent margin on a two party preferred system for the Port Stephens seat.
Other endorsed candidates include the ALP's Kate Washington, a lawyer from Medowie, and The Greens' Rochelle Flood, an actor and environmentalist.
