Fishing just north of Broughton Island with his dad things were pretty quiet as the pair floated fillets of fresh yellowtail bait down a berley trail when Whammo! Tom hooked a monster. Unlike most adults who rush to take the rod, Tom's dad let Tom take control. What an exhausting struggle it turned out to be. Finally the mighty fish was winched to the surface where dad applied the landing net.
There is a couple of lessons for all who take little people fishing: make sure that the kids have top quality fishing gear. ‘El Cheapo’ fishing gear is fine for beginners but when you are targeting quality fish you need quality gear. The other lesson is to let the little champs do all the work. If they are good enough to hook the fish they are good enough to land it. Go Thomas!
