Mr Twohill has been overwhelmingly elected by members as president of the local station.
“I’m really looking forward to leading the station on it’s journey onwards and upwards, and to continue the strong growth the station has had over the past couple of years,” Mr Twohill said.
The presenter has been with the station since October 2014 when he joined as an on-air personality. He has also spent the last 5.5 months working in the vice-president’s role.
Priorities for the station in 2017, Mr Twohill said, are to create more community-focused programs and get more community-based voices on air.
“As we are a community station, it is all about our area. So keeping people up to date with local announcements and information will continue to be a priority for us.
“And reflecting our community by playing the music they want to here is also incredibly important,” he said.
Along with Mr Twohill’s appointment, the station’s members re-elected all management committee members for a further 12 months.
“I have an incredibly supportive board, and I’m very lucky to have former president Bob McKay as my vice-president. As I often say, we’re all in the same book, we’re all on the same page,” Mr Twohill said.
“We have a very strong team here at Port Stephens FM. Strong management, great presenters, a wonderful admin team, and dedicated volunteers, and I’m very lucky to be at the helm of this incredible team,” Mr Twohill said.
The station will be unveiling it’s new website early next year, which has been a priority for the station.
It will be an interactive, user-friendly website that will allow for more community engagement.
