The government corporation nbn co and its delivery partners have worked closely with Port Stephens Council in recent months with 24,000 premises now connected.
The council’s economic development coordinator Jane Perrin said it was a crucial partnership.
"We've been the link between nbn and the community, helping to relay information and pass on concerns to ensure a smoother rollout of the service in the region," she said.
The anticipation in areas is palpable.
"Businesses are eager to connect to the nbn to enjoy the benefits of fast broadband, including flexible working options, improved online experience for customers, better engagement and access to cloud services," Ms Perrin said.
Construction on services at Lemon Tree Passage, Mallabula, Medowie, Salt Ash and Tanilba Bay is due to start in the first half of 2018.
