The fish have gone crackers off all the wharves and jetties from Shoal Bay to Karuah. Shoal Bay wharf resembles an ants nest with the main targets being squid, which are destined for the deep fryer or kept alive to catch mulloway. The Nelson Bay breakwall continues to produce the best catch of luderick that I have seen for years. Shoal Bay champ Frank Secco landed a monster 2.3kg luderick using sea cabbage for bait, not from Woolies.
Further inside the port, Callum Alderson and Jamie Davies wrestled a couple of 20kg mulloway off the Corlette wreck using squid for bait. Callum and Jamie could catch a fish in a pot hole in Bobs Farm road. Tailor bream and mulloway off the beaches while bream, drummer, snapper, tailor and salmon are out of control off the rocks.
