Following the success of the progressive cruise luncheon at last year’s food and wine festival, organisers this year applied the concept to cafes and restaurants in the Bay CBD.
The Tasters Trail, which is limited to 50 people, will give participants an opportunity to sample showcase dishes and beverages from:
- Sienna's Pizzeria Bar and Restaurant
- Evviva Cafe and Bar
- Nigronis
- The Paper Rose Cafe (previously Ethica) and;
- Seabreeze Hotel
Chontelle Grecian, a member of the Tastes volunteer organising team, said the idea of the trail was to drive people into the Bay’s eateries and beverage outlets.
“One of the really successful events last year was the progressive cruise luncheon,” Ms Grecian said.
“We thought this year we would bring it into the Bay and focus it on the restaurants and eateries and showcase the amazing food, wine and cocktails they have on offer.
“The trail includes a broad range of tastes that really showcases what we have on offer here in the Bay.”
Sienna’s, which recently moved into Magnus Street, will offer tasters ricotta and pumpkin arancini balls with a glass of prosecco.
The Evivva team will be dishing up chargrilled calamari dressed with miso, pickled ginger and bonito flakes and a glass of saki.
At Nigronis, formerly Baroque Coffee House, a cheese plate with a glass of wine will be on offer.
The Paper Rose Cafe, formerly Ethica, in Cascade Walk will be serving up some sweets – tiramisu with a non-alcoholic affogato.
The trail will end at Seabreeze Hotel where staff will whip up a cocktail for tasters.
The Tasters Trail will run between 4pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, November 4.
Each participating eatery will offer a special taster dish and accompanying beverage.
Participants are required to visit each in order (outlined on their ticket), finishing with a cocktail at Seabreeze Hotel.
Taster Trail tickets, available from portstephens.org.au, cost $49 each.
Other ticketed Tastes events include the Jazz Luncheon Cruise ($79) on Saturday, November 4 plus cheese making and wine tasting on November 4 and 5 ($60). For more information or to buy tickets, click here.
