The Newcastle men will be attempting to retain the Challenge Shield, while the Newcastle women will be seeking to regain the Perpetual Trophy, after losing narrowly two Tests to one Test last year.
Newcastle selectors have picked four experienced skippers: 2017 Newcastle bowler of the year Terry Antram (Soldiers Point), plus former NSW representatives Lennon Scott (Raymond Terrace) and Jason Stokes (Raymond Terrace) and former New Zealand player Blake Signal (Nelson Bay).
Antram will skipper the rink of Daniel Hill (Charlestown), Shane Evans (Raymond Terrace) and Jason Pietraszek (Soldiers Point).
Scott will be in charge of Clinton Doust (East Maitland), Matt Norris (Mayfield West) and David Govan (Valentine). Stokes will captain the rink of Jarrod Duncan (Alder Park), Jakob Graham (Nelson Bay) and Lee Such (Soldiers Point).
Signal will have New Zealand international Richard Girvan (Nelson Bay) as his third, with Ian Lean (Raymond Terrace) as lead and Warren Shipley (Beresfield) as second.
Commonwealth Games representative Natasha Scott will skipper the all Raymond Terrace women’s rink of Sharon McReynolds, Briana Graham and Genevieve Delves.
Betty Herbertson will be in charge of the all-Soldiers Point rink of Pamela Stephens, Alison Moxey and Vacie McIntyre.
Lynne Thompson (Raymond Terrace) will have clubmate Robyn Beaumont as lead, Carol Shepherd (Stockton) as second and Julie Schumaker (Soldiers Point) will play third.
Menka Weddell (Heaton-Birmingham Gardens) will skipper Jan Sutherland (Soldiers Point), Maree Harman (Kotara) and Wendy Adamson (Heaton-Birmingham Gardens).
The ACT use the three-Test Series as lead-up games for the Australian Sides Championship.
Entries close on Wednesday at association headquarters for the first district championships to be played in 2018, the district pairs and state senior pairs championships. Both start on Saturday, February 3.
The host clubs are Nelson Bay (district pairs) and Beresfield (state senior pairs).
