Club members will hit the water at Birubi Beach on Saturday, February 2 for the Port Stephens Toyota Surfest 2019 wild card trials.
The boardriders will have the barbecue firing throughout the day, and will be taking registrations between 8am and 1pm for new and existing members.
More events and education opportunities will be available to members this year with the club introducing a series of team building events, training camps, high performance coaching sessions and judging courses.
Members will also participate in Surfing Australia’s Surfers Rescue 24/7 CPR and board rescue course and monthly club competition and social gatherings, including the annual family camping trip in September.
John Sullivan has been named president of the club.
“The club is in for a great year,” Sullivan said. “We are fortunate to live in an area surrounded by excellent beaches that we can all enjoy.”
The club has a new-look committee for 2019 made up of a range of current and new members that Sullivan said “bring both passion and experience to the club”.
“We will continue to build on the great work achieved by the club over many years,” he said.
“Through community support we believe our club can continue to thrive, promote and encourage the enjoyment of surfing which features participation as an imperative.
“We welcome new members of all ages and levels.”
The first club competition will be held on Sunday, February 10.
