Nelson Bay Skate Park will be buzzing with excitement and activity during Youth Week when Tomaree Youth Community Action (TYCA) conducts its third annual skate and scooter competition on Sunday, April 14, from 9am to 3pm.

More than 100 youths are expected to participate in the popular event, with registrations at $3 per child open online or before 8.30am on site.
The competition, open to youth of all ages and abilities, is presented by TYCA in conjunction with Port Stephens Council, who have provided more than $2000 in grants for prizes and equipment.

Mayor Ryan Palmer will be on hand to officially launch the day.
While the skate and scooter competitions will dominate proceedings, there are plenty of other games and activities for children to enjoy, including performances, demonstrations, giveaways and raffles.
TYCA secretary Linda Cavanagh said that the free family friendly activities on the day included Horizons footgolf, Nelson Bay JRLFC footy toss, jumping castle, games with members of the Port's Youth Advisory Panel, and music by the TYCA DJ crew.
"We have some amazing prizes including Moonshadow cruise tickets, Superstrike passes, Splash Waterpark tickets, Nelson Bay Cinema movie passes, STEAM Education Coding & Robotics Holiday workshop tickets, gift vouchers, skate decks and more," she said.
TYCA is a not-for-profit volunteer group with the goal of empowering youth to fulfil their potential.
