Pressings of more than 520 new taxa unknown to western science were collected along the Endeavour's trek along the east coast of Australia in 1770, along with thousands of botanical illustrations.
To mark the 250th anniversary of these flora discoveries, Hunter Region Botanic Gardens is observing the Endeavour 250 project on Sunday, May 26.
The Gardens will also observe Endeavour 250 on the last Sunday in May 2020.
At the Heatherbrae-based Gardens this Sunday there will be a small display about the Endeavour 250 project and guides will be available to take visitors on a free short walk to the Banks Place memorial in the Gardens.
Along the walk, species identical to those collected by Banks and Solander in 1770 will be pointed out.
The Gardens' plant stall will also have potted Australian species for sale.
Entrance to the Gardens costs $3 per person.
