The win, coupled with the Marlins strong 20-point defeat of Maitland from the previous weekend, has consolidated the Bay's second position on the premiership ladder.
In the game played in dry conditions at Dick Burwell Oval on June 16, the visiting Maitland players wore a Beyond Blue jersey while Nelson Bay played in an Indigenous jersey to recognise the two important groups.
The Marlins U15 boys also had an exciting win on the weekend, while the girls games, which were scheduled to be played at No.1 oval in Newcastle, were cancelled due to the wet weather.
Marlins committee member Penny Blythe said that the Nelson Bay AFL junior club had continued to blossom in season 2019.
"We are proud to say this season that our numbers have increased again from last year," Blythe said. "We have fabulous numbers in our Auskick group [aged 4-7], who will play half time at the Swans game this weekend. This will be a momentous occasion for our young team members."
The Swans are scheduled to meet the lowly placed Gold Coast outfit at the famous Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday afternoon, starting at 4.35pm. The Nelson Bay junior club currently boasts three girls teams and seven boys teams.
"The June long weekend was a rep round and we had Marlin representations in all age groups," Blythe said.
