The Port Stephens community group picked up a highly commended award in the 'Heritage and Culture' category for Tanilba House and the 'Overall Sustain Ability' category for towns with population between 6001 and 12,000.
Tilligerry Landcare chair Fran Corner said that the group, made up of volunteers, was delighted to be recognised for its active work towards sustainable practices on the Tilligerry peninsula.
"We had three members attend the annual awards and conference event, which showed another side of Cessnock and included a range of workshops on topics like boomerang bags," Ms Corner said.
"Our group is small in number but strong in dedication and to be recognised on the state map is a wonderful achievement and a credit to all those involved. The winning community was Murrurundi where next year's awards will be held."
The weekend kicked off with a welcome barbecue at the Cessnock Men's Shed, followed by tours to historic Wollombi and the Kurri Kurri murals. The awards presentation, which was well attended, was held at Pokolbin Hall.
