The council has once again partnered with Creative Communities to bring the initiative that empowers communities to improve places and spaces within their town to Medowie from May 8 to 15.
"It's incredible to see how Anna Bay was transformed in seven days on a limited budget in December 2019, thanks to the hard work of the community and all of the amazing volunteers," Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer said.
"Port Stephens Council is proud to be partnering with Creative Communities again to bring the 7 Day Makeover to Medowie. I'd encourage all of our community and local businesses to get involved however you can."
Following a week of construction, landscaping and beautifying, the Anna Bay town centre was transformed into a dazzling new streetscape featuring a new entrance sign, whale tail trail path, seating, planter boxes and renovated bus shelters and toilet block prior to Christmas in 2019.
But the biggest achievement, according to Creative Communities founder David Engwicht, was the building of a new community spirit in Anna Bay and with it a "change in people's perception of the town".
"Anna Bay was one of the highlights of the 7 Day Makeovers we've done. It was absolutely huge - we had the biggest number of volunteers in a single day ever, which was 172. I'm excited to see whether Medowie can outdo Anna Bay," Mr Engwicht said.
"Every town we go to has its own challenges and the projects we take on are all unique - no two places are the same.
"I've been to Medowie to have a look and I see a lot of potential. The greater the potential of a place, the greater the transformation so I'm really excited to see what ideas the community will come up with."
Mr Engwicht will speak at an information night, explaining how the 7 Day Makeover will work and how people can get involved, from 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 13 at the Medowie Community Centre.
Key dates for the initiative are: May 8 - ideas creation workshop, May 9 - project planning workshop, May 10 to 14 - the makeover and May 15 - makeover launch party.
Medowie resident and west ward councillor Chris Doohan is an advocate for the 7 Day Makeover and has challenged "everyone in Port Stephens to get involved in helping to makeover the Medowie town centre".
"We are a proud town that is growing rapidly. Now is a chance for some of the older and newer residents to meet and work together to help make our town centre something we can be proud of, and continue to energise and promote our strong community spirit," Cr Doohan said.
"It doesn't matter about skill level or ability - there are important roles for absolutely everyone. It's all about working together to make Medowie a better place."
