The Port's newest Maccas, located near Coles at 795 Medowie Road, will keep about 100 tradies in work during its construction, a spokesperson for the fast food giant said, and would employ a further 100-plus staff once the doors open.
The 24-hour Medowie McDonald's is expected to open in October.
"McDonald's Medowie will inject over $5 million into the local economy and create approximately 100 jobs during construction," the McDonald's spokesperson said.
"Once operational, the restaurant will create a further 120 jobs for the local community.
"The restaurant will play an active role in the community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities for local employees.
"We look forward to serving and providing essential jobs for the local Medowie community."
Port Stephens councillors approved the McDonald's development application in June 2020.
The restaurant will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with drive-through only between 11pm and 5am.
The development will have dining capacity for 90 people, a McCafe outlet, a playground, a drive-through facility, including two separate servery bays and two waiting bays, and accessible toilets.
It will be accessed via Peppertree Road and Muir Street with a two-way internal driveway.
