It's the simple joy of doing something that will put a smile on someone's face, especially during trying times, that has led Therese Mace to go all out for Halloween the past two years.

She has spent weeks decorating the front lawn of her Medowie home with a range of spooky decorations to create an impressive Halloween display that literally stops people in their tracks.
"I've had cars hit the breaks and stop in the middle of the street to get a look," Mrs Mace said. "People come knock on the door to ask if they can take photos. I've put up signs saying photos are welcome."
Unable to travel away like her family usually does at Halloween, and encouraged by her young grandchildren, the Medowie mother and grandmother decided to go big for October 31 last year.
She decorated the old car in the front yard of her Kirrang Drive home with cobwebs, a red light and smoke machine to create a creepy effect, placed a variety of purchased and handmade decorations like moving clowns and wrapped mummies in graves across the lawn, strung up lights and witches hats.
On Halloween, Mrs Mace dressed as Beetlejuice and handed out candy to trick or treaters.
"It was a hit last year," she said. "We handed out 200 lolly bags. I was actually quite shocked at the reaction. I've had a couple of people stop and ask me if I am the 'Halloween lady'."
Mrs Mace has even more decorations on display this year, and will once again be dressing up and handing out lolly bags and popcorn to children on Halloween on Sunday.
She has gone the extra mile and made little dolls out of wool for small children who cannot eat candy or popcorn.
"It's just something nice I can do for the community. I've been asked many times if I'm American. I'm not. I just like doing things like this for others. I really really love seeing kid's faces, seeing their joy, when they're here. And the reactions from the adults are just as good," Mr Mace said.
