Watch as the half a kilometre of lights that adorn the largest Christmas tree in the Southern Hemisphere are switched on and enjoy live music by Irrawang High School students and carols by the Anglican Church choir. Other: Face painting, jumping castles, stalls and food. Take a blanket, chairs and a picnic. This event is open to the double vaccinated.
Homegrown Market
December 4: Nelson Bay foreshore, Victoria Parade (next to d'Albora Marina). Time: 4pm-8pm.
The Homegrown Markets specialises in handmade, eco and local designs. Other: Pet friendly, hot food and drinks, live music.
Nelson Bay Legacy Markets
December 5: Neil Carroll Park, Nelson Bay. Time: 9am-2pm.
Second-hand tools and clothes to arthritis cream, candle oils, handicrafts, local produce, art, pottery, plants and cakes. Held the first, third and fifth Sunday of the month.
Raymond Terrace market
December 5: Raymond Terrace Senior Citizens and Community Hall. Time: 8am-1pm.
Raymond Terrace Charity Market offers a variety of Christmas stalls featuring gifts and ideas.
Fingal Twilight Market
December 11: Fingal Bay foreshore (next to surf club). Time: 3pm-8pm.
Fingal Twilight Markets offers a selection of artisan and handmade products. There are more than 30 stalls, hot food, drinks and sweet treats plus live music, pet friendly, kids playground and fun for the whole family.
Carols at the Bay
December 12: Neil Carroll Park, Nelson Bay. Time: 5.30pm-9pm. Cost: Free.
Community performances will begin at 5.30pm before the main performance at 7.30pm, a visit by Santa about 8pm and fireworks at 9pm. The main performance will be shared between performers from The Studio Music Academy at Taylors Beach and Hope UC led by Darlene Zschech. Other: Nativity stall for photos, barbecue, food and beverage vans. Take a blanket and chairs.
