Three scholarships worth $1000 each, funded by Port Stephens Council, are available to women aged 16 and above to help them achieve a goal in 2022.
"International Women's Day is a chance for us to join voices with people around the globe to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, to raise awareness about bias and to take action for equality," Port Stephens east ward councillor Leah Anderson said.
"Right here in our own backyard, there are women doing incredible things within our community that help to make Port Stephens an inclusive and supportive place to live.
"Our IWD scholarships are aimed at giving local women a helping hand to reach an important goal, so that they can continue to make a difference and have their voices heard.
"I encourage all women who have an idea, and who need a little financial support to get it off the ground, to apply for one of these scholarships. But hurry, because time is running out."
The winners will be announced on International Women's Day on Tuesday, March 8.
