Port Stephens dentist Victoria Lane and her business partner husband Gareth Morgan say the offer comes as a “thank-you gesture” after the couple were evacuated from their Medowie home during recent bushfires.
For the UK-born and raised couple who have a 10-week old daughter, bushfires are an alien concept and the sight of 80 foot flames burning through bush was a frightening experience.
“We were discussing how we can give back to our volunteer firefighters when someone mentioned the great response to a business owner offering firefighters free coffee from his mobile van, so we decided on the free dental package.”
Dr Lane, who recently took over the practice Platinum Dental in Nelson Bay [previously operated by Dr Andrew Parsons], said she was delighted to offer all volunteer firefighters a free check-up, clean and if necessary X-ray service, a package worth around $300.
“This is a genuine offer to RFS members no strings attached, all they need to do is bring in their ID. The offer will run until December 31.”
In another revolutionary concept to dental care in the Port, the couple have their golden retriever Dexter in training as a therapy dog.
