A woman has died and three people are in a serious condition following a single vehicle crash at Tomago on Sunday.

Police, SES, paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service were called to Tomago Road between between Masonite and Old Punt roads just after 5pm on Sunday, January 6 after a sedan left the road and hit a tree, trapping the occupants.
One of the female passengers was freed from the vehicle but could not be resuscitated. She died at the scene.
It is the first road fatality of 2019 for Port Stephens.
The male driver of the vehicle and two other passengers, a man and a woman, were freed and taken to John Hunter Hospital by ambulance and helicopter, all in a serious condition.
A 69-year-old man was flown to John Hunter Hospital with chest injuries.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District, with the assistance of the Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
