In a very entertaining game the Swampies scored a converted try in the final minute to win 24-16 and grab the competition points.
The Bomboras went into the game without several key players. However, as a team they defended bravely against the much bigger opposition particularly in the second half.
The Bay trailed 12-10 at half time. As the two competition heavy weights went head-to-head, Ben Schneider was non-stop and picked up the players' player award. Full back Rob Bryant was the best back and Blake Fuller won the coaches' award.
The Fingal ladies team showed plenty of character to come from behind after Dora Creek led 10-0 at half time. The Fingal girls rallied to run in three second half tries with Marnie Parfitt converting two of them. Players' player was Misty Sayers who sparked the attack. Birthday girl Lydia McQueen had a fine game.
The ladies are away to Aberglasslyn and the men are in Waratah this weekend.
Raymond Terrace Rugby League Club struggled against a well drilled Aberglasslyn team on Saturday. After being in the contest at half time down 10-4 they were eventually beaten 34-18.
The highlight for the Terrace was a brilliant 50 metre try by talented half back Jack Beverly on a kick return mission. Up front, tough front rower John Schultz worked hard. The players' player was classy centre Cain Waterman who created plenty of energy in attack.
The Raymond Terrace Ravens ladies tag team went down 50-4 to Aberglasslyn. The ladies have a bye this weekend.
