With one round to be played before the start of the semi-finals, the Marlins are well placed to have the U/17 and U/11 boys, the U/14 girls and possibly the U/12 girls featured in the play-offs.
Nelson Bay Junior AFL is hosting the first week of the finals on Sunday, August 18. "We would love to have people come down and cheer our teams on," said club member Penny Blyth.
Club players recently attended the representative carnivals and performed extremely well, with 18 players chosen to represent the Hunter.
"At the carnival, six Hunter teams (U12YGs, U/14YGs, U/17YGs, U/12s, U/13s, and U/17s) won their grand finals and the U/15s finished runners up," Ms Blyth said.
"The rep carnivals were held in Cardiff, Coffs Harbour and Lake Macquarie. This was very impressive effort playing against representative teams from Northern NSW, Central Coast and Northern Sydney."
On June 29, the Marlins Auskickers travelled to Sydney to play at the half time game between the Sydney Swans and Gold Coast. "This is a highlight for our younger players and something that they look forward to every year."
