Currently the council provides free green waste at Salamander Bay every second Sunday from October to April and just once a month from May to September.
A notice of motion at the last meeting of council by mayor Ryan Palmer called for the general manager to provide a report on the feasibility of having green waste dropped off for free every Sunday at Salamander.
The report stated that "five years ago council doubled the services to fortnightly for the spring/summer period and we observed a doubling of the volume of material received each month".
"This doubling in volume at the green waste drop off days did not result in an increase in tonnes received at the Salamander Bay station."
The issue of a fee would need to be considered.
