At Tamworth Regional Athletics Centre on February 29 and March 1, Cody, aged 15, competed in seven track and field events in the under-15 boys age group.
He finished the two-day competition top of his age group to secure gold and a place at the Australian Combined Event Championships, which will be held in Canberra in April.
It is the second year that Cody has won gold at the carnival. He attended his first ever state combined competition in Dubbo last year.
Competing in six events across two days, with a field of 14 athletes, he placed first outright and won gold.
This year, the event was held in Tamworth. The under-15 age group had 17 starting athletes. Fifteen finished the two-day competition.
The under-15 athletes competed in seven events: high jump, 100m hurdles, long jump, 100m sprint, discus, javelin and 800m run.
The event is scored similar to a Heptathlon, with points awarded depending on placing and results for each event.
At the end of the first event, high jump, Cody was placed fourth with a jump of 1.70m. He placed second in hurdles, had a win in long jump and placed second in the 100m sprint with time of 11.96sec to finish day one in first place outright by a short margin.
The first event on day two was discus. Cody threw a personal best of 48.29m to advance his first placing by nearly 450 points. He placed a close fourth in javelin, with less than 2m between first and fourth.
Although he finished low in the top 10 in the last event, the 800m run, Cody had secured enough points to hold first place and win the event for the under-15 boys.
He finished the two-day event with a total of 5379 points.
