TerryWhite Chemmart and Terrace Central Surgery are the next retailers set to open inside the Raymond Terrace shopping centre, following the launch of Panthera's own food court in July, in addition to an al fresco and children's play space.
"We are delighted to bring TerryWhite Chemmart and Terrace Central Surgery on board as new retailers in 2020," Terrace Central centre manager Penny Clarke said, adding that the additions were the beginning of creating a new identity for Terrace Central.
"[We will] continue to foster a dynamic and family-friendly centre for the Raymond Terrace community."
The chemist, surgery and outdoor area are due to open "in the next few months".
Panthera said the al fresco area, located outside the entrance closest to the new indoor food court, named Rivershop, will "further transform customer experiences". The space features outdoor tables, children's playground and a performance area.
It is designed to complement the indoor food court which is an all new addition to the centre and features five of food options: Proud Rooster, Wok This Way, Melts N More, Zeez Eatz and Hunter Seafood Shack.
Panthera Group chief executive officer Chakyl Camal said that in this day and age, shopping centres needed to become an "all encompassing platform" that caters for future markets, which is why it has created a click and collect service for the Rivershop eateries.
"Rivershop has now been launched in two precincts, Maitland Riverside Plaza and Terrace Central, with delivery solutions coming soon to Terrace Central," he said.
To use the click and collect service, download the Rivershop app for smartphones.
Panthera announced its intention to expand food and retail offerings after purchasing the Raymond Terrace shopping centre for $33.5 million in June 2017, the same year it also bought Maitland Riverside Plaza.
Since then Terrace Central, which had previously been described as 'dated', has received an estimated $860,000 worth of internal renovations including a new bathroom, flooring and lighting upgrades, added lounge areas and changes to shop fronts to clear the line of sight in the walkways.
While a number of businesses that traded in the centre closed (Page One boutique, Black Pepper) or moved locations (Capital Chemist to William Street) in 2018 due to the impending changes, new businesses have opened their doors in newly refurbished stores since such as The Reject Shop. Woolworths and Terrace Meats have continued to trade consistently.
