The multi-instrumentalists and seasoned performers are both passionate about keeping Australia's chequered history alive - the good, the bad and the ugly.
They do so through a catalogue of important original songs, performed under the concert banner of Timelines, which will show at Raymond Terrace and Tomaree Libraries on Thursday, April 22.
The pair will perform first in Raymond Terrace, from 11am-12.30pm, then Tomaree Library from 3.30pm-5pm.
The concerts, part of the Port's extensive seniors week program of events, are free but seats are limited and bookings are essential.
Phone Raymond Terrace Library on 4988 0111 or Tomaree Library on 4988 0670 to book.
Fix and Cryle create a unique musical perspective on Australian history. People and events are bought to life in song; whether singing of the Aboriginal fast bowler Eddie Gilbert, or the doughty St Patrick Day's protesters confronting police batons in Brisbane in 1948, or Ronald Ryan, the last hanged man in Australia.
When Cryle sings about visiting Sideshow Alley at the Brisbane Ekka as a child and a Dad, every word rings true without any cloying sentimentality.
The NSW Seniors Festival kicked off on Tuesday and will wrap up on Friday, April 23. A program of 25 events including a seniors photography exhibition, comedy show, Men's Shed open day, seniors martial arts session, Heart Foundation walk, movies and book readings has been curated for Port Stephens seniors to enjoy as part of the festival.
Other highlights in the program, which can be seen in full on Port Stephens Council's website or below, include stand up comedy with Jackie Loeb at Terrace Central on April 14, a Raymond Terrace Men's Shed band performance at Terrace Central on April 16, a cultural awareness including tour of Worimi Conservation Lands on April 19, arts and craft at Raymond Terrace Senior Citizens Hall on April 20 and a variety of information sessions for legal and technology advice.
The photography exhibition can be viewed at Terrace Central throughout the festival. The Raymond Terrace shopping centre has partnered with the council to deliver a range of events as part of the festival.
