In the lead up to the Federal Election, the Examiner hit the streets of Raymond Terrace last week to ask residents what their biggest concerns are and who they will be voting for on Saturday, May 21.

Each of the voters were asked the same questions about the major issues both in the Paterson electorate and nationally.
Here is what they said:
Campbell Watson
Retired veteran living in Lemon Tree Passage for 10 years
I am undecided. I have concerns about the cost of living and healthcare.
As a veteran, I have lobbied federal governments over the years on the need for more support for ex-service personnel who suffer from PTSD and mental health issues.
The DVA (Defence Veterans Affairs) is in need of a major overhaul. Neither party has convinced me of their intentions, but Labor has shown slightly more interest than the Liberals.
Karen Smith
Raymond Terrace retailer who has lived in Clarence Town for 18 years
I will be voting for Jason Olbourne from the United Australia Party and my main reason is because of the vaccine mandates.
I believe the two major parties are ruining Australia, certainly in the past two years.
I am not an anti-vaxxer but I am anti-experiment. A number of my extended family have lost jobs due to these mandates. Also, the government is not doing enough on rising power prices.
Margaret Cannington
Resident of Banksia Grove in Williamtown for 28 years
I will be doing a postal vote and will be voting Labor, although at 82 years of age I don't think voting for either party will change my circumstances.
My main concern is the rising rent ... my rent goes up but my pension doesn't and the rental assistance is not enough to cover rising rental fees, groceries and fuel.
I still drive into Raymond Terrace so the petrol price hike has hit hard.
Pat Morris
Retired maintenance fitter living in Williamtown's Banksia Grove
I will be voting Labor. I have always voted Labor and I think Anthony Albanese deserves a go.
Healthcare is the big one for me, particularly the need for more GPs where there is a shortage in nearby Raymond Terrace.
