Nelson Bay Bowling and Recreation Club and Nelson Bay Golf Club are two from 14 venues in the Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Port Stephens areas, and 140 clubs across NSW, taking part in ClubsNSW's Perfect Plate Awards.
Each venue has selected one dish to be judged in the competition, which closes June 19.
Members of the public are being encouraged to visit a club participating in the competition, taste the Perfect Plate dish on offer and give it a score out of five. Voters have the chance to win prizes.
ClubsNSW CEO Josh Landis said the Perfect Plate Awards are designed to highlight the quality and diversity of club food, and with celebrity chefs Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel on board as ambassadors, they are sure to do just that.
"It's been a tough period for the hospitality industry, and the best way we can help is to get back into clubs and try some great food," he said.
"People want to catch up with friends and family, have a good meal and not spend a million dollars.
"The Perfect Plate dishes are cooked by your locals - and what better place is there to support than your local club?"
As the culinary battle heats up, Fassnidge and Feildel will be popping into participating clubs to sample the Perfect Plate dishes on offer.
Fassnidge stopped by Nelson Bay Bowling and Recreation Club on May 9 to sample its Perfect Plate dish - a prawn and scallop linguine.
"You could taste the seafood by the sea," Fassnidge said.
"What a stunning setting and a dish to match. Really friendly staff, too.
"Last year was a killer for hospitality, so I'm enjoying travelling around and tasting other people's food again."
Nelson Bay Golf Club's Perfect Plate dish is salt and pepper squid.
The 13 clubs that receive the highest average score for their dishes based on patron ratings will be crowned the winner of their respective region.
There will also be three statewide winners announced in the small, medium and large club categories.
