A VARIETY of Christmas carol events will be held across the Port on the first weekend in December to mark the start of the festive season.
For a second consecutive year the Raymond Terrace Christmas Carols, organised by the town's combined churches, will be held on the lawn of the Old Rectory Tea House.
About 300 people turned out in miserable weather for the carols last year, a number Father Chris Yates from St John's Anglican Church said he would like to see again.
"This is a chance for everyone in the community to get together for a common cause and celebrate the birth of our Lord," he said.
All were invited to the December 4 event which will feature traditional carols, school choirs, a band and bible readings.
Former Raymond Terrace Public School music teacher Pauline Meredith has been chosen to light the famed pine tree located on the grounds of the old rectory.
Across town in Medowie on December 4 there will be Carols at Ferodale Oval, organised by the Rotary Club of Williamtown with input from the town's Lions club, Rural Fire Service, Baptist church and St John Ambulance.
Last year's poor weather forced organisers to cancel the event, something which Maryka Gibson from the Rotary club hoped would not be the case this year.
"This year's event promises to be bigger and better with organisers bringing in a stage to make sure that everyone gets a great view of all performances," she said.
Australian country music legend Gina Jeffreys will headline Tilligerry RSL Sports Club's Carols on the Lawn.
Jeffreys will be joined on stage by a variety of entertainers, including Karen O'Shea, and the singing students of Tanilba Bay Public School.
Carols on the Lawn will be held on the grounds of the club from 5pm on Saturday, December 5.
The cost is a gold coin.
