The Anna Bay-based church will hold its seventh annual production telling the story of the first Christmas on Thursday, December 17.
Carols under the Stars will feature a full cast of performers portraying the biblical characters including Mary, Joseph and the three wisemen.
The cast will be supported by a live donkey, sheep and camels.
"We are excited to provide this opportunity for the community to celebrate Jesus birthday, and we look forward to welcoming you all there,” said Pastor Duncan Anderson.
The festivities, to be held on the church grounds, will start at 5.30pm.
There will be free craft activities for children, live music, jumping castles and amusements as well as camel rides.
Attendees are welcome to take their own picnic, or for a hassle-free dinner church volunteers will have the barbecue up and running.
“It's a fabulous evening of fun,” said Maree Hutchinson from the church.
“As the light starts to dim, glow sticks can be purchased to light up the night.
“We have the Newcastle Salvation Army band accompanying our singers as they lead the crowd in all the familiar Christmas carols.
“Awe descends as Mary arrives on her donkey accompanied by Joseph.
"As the narrator unfolds the nativity story, the baby Jesus arrival is heralded by the angels who proclaim the arrival of the saviour.
“They make their way to see the new baby followed by the three kings who arrive atop their camels hushing the crowd.”
