Port Stephens Youth Advisory Panel has partnered with schools, services and other organisations to spread the 2018 Youth Week activities further around the local government area, and to launch new youth-based services and initiatives.
Youth Week in Port Stephens will run April 11 to 22.
A launch event will be at Tomaree High School where a world record attempt to link arms and stand together will be made.
A picnic at Raymond Terrace Library will be held throughout the week to introduce a new creative initiative. Additionally, a new youth service will be launched on the Tilligerry Peninsula.
Two members of Port Stephens Council’s Youth Advisory Panel, Rhiana Mackenzie and Katerina Nico, will travel to Sydney on April 12 to attend the state forum to launch 2018 Youth Week.
Tomaree Youth Community Action group’s popular Skate and Skoot competition will return to Fly Point on April 15. TYCA are taking entries now via its Facebook page.
An art and music workshop at Medowie skate park will wrap up the Youth Week schedule.
Youth Week events are organised by young people, for young people. It is an opportunity for young people to share ideas, attend live events, have their voices heard on issues of concern to them, showcase talents and celebrate their contribution to the community.
