With Medowie continuing to expand along with the growing number of new housing estates, Santa asked the Medowie Rural Fire Brigade to drive him around the local streets last Saturday for the first ever Medowie Christmas run.

"Along the way we stopped so he could meet the kids and hand out some lollies," said RFS spokesperson Gavin Smith.
"This is the first year we have been able to do a Santa run. Since Christmas falls during the middle of fire season, our trucks or manpower are normally busy elsewhere. One of the many popular stops was at the Bower Estate."
Medowie RFB is this year celebrating 75 years of community service.
The fire service reminds the people of Port Stephens to remain vigilant during the summer season and to remember that during a Total Fire Ban people cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open any time of day.
