For the first time in two years, fireworks will make an appearance in the skies over Nelson Bay to ring in the New Year.
Port Stephens Council's group manager of development services Steven Peart said Nelson Bay's renowned fireworks, to launch at 9pm on December 31, was the "perfect way to start the New Year on a high note as a community".
"This will be the first time the event has been held since 2019. We know the community and our visitors are really excited to come together again and support our local businesses and tourism industry as we reopen after a year of restrictions and lockdowns," Mr Peart said.
"There are a number of activities happening this New Year's across the Bay, so locals and visitors can really make a night of it.
"Treat yourself and your family to dinner and drinks at one of the fabulous cafés or restaurants, enjoying some of the delicious local produce on offer while being surrounded by one of the most beautiful natural landscapes on the east coast."
There will be no shortage of things to do on the marina throughout the school holidays and on December 31.
Visitors and locals of all ages will be entertained with a range of street art and performance that is sure to razzle and dazzle.
In addition, all businesses located on the marina are expected to remain open for the entire school holiday period.
An event highlight that is sure to attract the attention of children is the visit from Santa from Christmas Eve (December 24).
Other regular fixtures include William Doodrop Juggler, Magic Show, Mini Putt Putt, Wooden Games and Airbrush Tattoo artists.
There are full day events at the marina from New Year's Eve (December 31), including two shows from the Hot Potato Band (11.30am-12 noon and 1pm-1.30pm).
Roving entertainers will continue throughout the day from 12 noon to 9pm.
Also featured on New Year's Eve will be Aerojump, Henna Tattoo, Mini Putt Putt, Wooden Games and Airbrush Tattoo artists.
