For three years running Linda Beks, owner of ME Photography, has placed in the top three of the NSW professional photography awards for her portraits.
"I am thrilled," Ms Beks, originally from Holland, said.
"A lot of effort goes into entering the awards."
The awards were for professional photographers only.
Entrants were required to be members of the AIPP, with the acceptance criteria strict to maintain a high standard in the photography field.
Last year Ms Beks received the AIPP title Master of Photography. She said it was a big achievement and the reason why a lot of photographers enter the awards.
Almost 1000 images were entered each year with judging, done by some of Australia's most recognised photographers, taking place across two days. Ms Beks entered eight photographs into the awards.
She won gold for her image showcasing the burden of diabetes on children, a silver distinction for one of her portraits of a red-headed girl with a snake and five more silver awards.
Ms Beks said she was very happy with the gold achievement, which was a first for her. The image scored the highest "you could dream of getting at the awards".
Ms Beks said her focus was now turned to the national awards, which would be held in Melbourne in October.
