It’s a mouth watering combination. Love Sea Food will for the first time pay tribute to the fruits of Port Stephens’ pristine waters with a month-long series of events.
Destination Port Stephens has worked with industry partners to serve up the festival and please the growing number of visitors keen to sample cuisine from the very region they’ve come to see.
“Throughout August, this new festival will celebrate all that we love about seafood in Port Stephens, with visitors able to get a true taste of why Port Stephens is such a magical, year-round destination,” acting destination manager Danny Eather said.
“Generations of fishing and oyster-farming families work in our blue water wonderland, ensuring locals and visitors alike enjoy some of Australia’s freshest and tastiest seafood.”
The festival will feature celebrity chefs like Brigid Trealor, TV cooks including Carly and Tresne from My Kitchen Rules, and seafood cruises. There’s also a foodie’s weekend at d’Albora Marina (as well as a family festival at the marina), cooking classes and demonstrations for adults and kids. Markets, rides and live entertainment will lift the festival atmosphere.
Discounted seafood lunches at more than 15 eateries across Port Stephens.
Love Sea Food also honours the industry’s characters and hardy seafarers who bring these delights to the plate.
Industry stakeholders and various organisations have clambered on board in support. To name a few there’s NSW Department of Primary Industries, Port Stephens Council, Newcastle Commercial Fishermen’s Co-op, Sydney Fish Market, d’Albora Marina, Oceanwatch and Huon Aquaculture.
