The polls have closed and the votes are currently being counted with Labor's Kate Washington in front.
The ABC's live coverage would even suggest that Ms Washington has it in the bag with Shadow Transport Minister Jodi McKay claiming the seat for Labor and in doing so, pulling no punches against the Liberals in what she called a 'dirty tricks campaign'.
The ABC is predicting a 1.3 per cent swing to Labor.
UPDATE
It looks like Kate Washington is once again your member for Port Stephens seemingly defeating rival Liberal candidate Jaimie Abbott.
Nelson Bay has swung towards Labor while Raymond Terrace showed indications of swinging slightly towards the Liberals.
Ms Washington's grass-roots campaign that focused on health, roads and education seems to have resonated with voters once again.
