The acquisition of the former fire station site in William Street would be used for the widening of Sturgeon Street and enable a safe link between the proposed commercial development with the council building and business centre.
"Once the building is demolished, road works on the kerbs and splitter islands will be necessary.".
In the Bay, councillors agreed to proceed with the compulsory acquisition of 342sqm of the Victoria Parade Reserve for "the recently completed extension of Yacaaba Street".
"The council purchased 106 and 108 Magnus Street between 2000 and 2012 for the purpose of alleviating traffic congestion and providing improved traffic and pedestrian flow."
