Inside the harbour you are most likely to hook on to a bream, whiting or flathead.
However, don't be surprised to catch a mulloway or a luderick.
Off the beach, a prawn will be gobbled up by a bream, flathead, salmon or a tailor.
Then again, along comes a mulloway looking for a snack.
Off the rocks just about every fish will show an interest in a big fat prawn floating just behind the wash.
Add to the list of fish I have already mentioned - groper, red rock cod, leatherjacket, snapper and drummer.
There are two types of drummer that swim off our headlands and rocky coastline.
The Rock Blackfish, commonly called a Black Drummer and then there is the Silver Drummer.
The Black Drummer is much sought after by rock fishermen for their tenacious fighting qualities and their increasingly acceptance into the kitchen.
The Silver Drummer unfortunately is a completely different story.
A great fighting fish, the Silver Drummer is banned from every kitchen I know.
Most fish can be eaten, but not this one. I'm told seagulls won't even take a peck.
