The men's team momentum was stalled when it was promoted to A grade mid season, however it was a great season for the club after a tough COVID season that stretched the club's resources.
In the ladies tag division, Grace Parfitt took ou the best and fairest award, while also winning best forward. Best back was Brie Carter, who also won took out the players player for 2020.
The men's best and fairest went to Jake Bennett, who also won the coveted Jake Coles Trophy.
Best forward was Liam Dooley, best back was Liam Walsh and players player went to Danny Reid.
In a challenging season where both ladies and men's team finished one game short of a grand final appearance, the Bomboras officials say the COVID restrictions had brought the players and coaching staff closer together.
"At this stage most players and sponsors have indicated that they will be coming back on board for 2021," said Neil Parfitt.
"We are fortunate to have a hardworking committee who are constantly looking at improving the Fingal Oval grounds and amenities."
The Bomboras men's team was promoted into A-grade of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby League following a re-grading in August, due to a breach of competition rules by the Western Suburbs club.
The committee was faced with the decision to promote another team to A-grade or demote a team to B-grade to make the competitions fair. Due to a number of committee members having ties to teams in the grades, a decision was made by an independent committee. Based on squads and performance in the last three rounds, a decision was made to promote Fingal Bay to A-grade.
The club wrapped up its season with the annual general meeting on November 19, where all positions were returned for 2021: George McDonald president, Nathan Dover secretary, and Leanne Blackwell treasurer.
Fingal Bay RLFC is now inviting applications for all senior coaching and team support staff positions for the 2021 season.
Those interested are requested to send a cover letter along with a resume to secretary@fingalbayrlfc.com.
Applications close December 2, 2020.
