The port is filling up with thumper dusky flathead from Shoal Bay to the upper reaches of the Karuah River.
Mud crabs and blue swimmers are on the move particularly west of Soldiers Point while bream are becoming increasingly active around the oysters.
Remember to stay well clear of all the oyster racks.

Whiting are cruising over the sand and cracking mulloway have moved in for the holidays.
The beaches are loading up with whiting, flathead and mulloway. Stockton and Fingal are the best beaches to target in the mornings and evenings as the tide rises.
Give Box Beach and One Mile a go. All beaches are beautiful at this time of the year.
Off-shore all the talk is about snapper, snapper and more snapper with quality reddies to 8kg taking plastics and fillets of slimy mackerel from Fishermans Bay to the Outer Light.
Those who prefer to travel north from the heads can anchor off Broughton Island or even further north towards Seal Rocks.
Port Stephens and visiting boaties are being urged to check their flares and if the dates have expired to find a collection point to safely dispose of them. The next date for disposing of flares at Little Beach Boat Ramp and Soldiers Point Ramp is Friday, January 11, 2021.
