Newcastle Airport suspended flights about 6pm on Sunday, March 21, due to flooding on the airfield.
Between Thursday and Sunday, Williamtown had received 265mm of rainfall.
"Given the condition of the runway and an unfavourable weather forecast, the closure is currently scheduled to remain in place until midday Wednesday, March 24," the airport stated.
"Regular assessments of the airfield will... take place between now and then and may result in an earlier resumption of flights.
"All people booked or looking to fly to or from Newcastle Airport between Sunday evening and midday Wednesday should contact their airline directly for more details."
Meanwhile, the Fighter World aviation museum at Williamtown encouraged anyone planning to visit in the next few days to phone ahead to check that it is open. Phone: (02) 4965 1810.
