A EIS for the state significant infrastructure project, which has been planned for more than 15 years, is now being prepared by Transport for NSW for submission to DPIE.
When complete, the EIS will be exhibited on the NSW Government's online planning portal giving members of the public an opportunity to view the document, submit feedback and track the project's ongoing progress.
DPIE stated that it would advertise public submissions once the EIS had been lodged. It is hoped the project will be determined in mid-2022.
The project proposes to build a 15km dual carriageway road connecting the M1 Pacific Motorway at Black Hill and the A1 Pacific Highway at Raymond Terrace as well as upgrade the connections to the New England and Pacific highways between Beresfield and Heatherbrae.
In the latest NSW Budget, the state allocated a further $28 towards planning for the extension project.
To track the extension's progress go to www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects and search the project by name or number (SSI-7319).
