Beginners to intermediate classes in watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, drawing and oils at The Blank Canvas, a small gallery in Raymond Terrace. Classes are instructed by professional artists Tania and Annette.
Book Fair and Gardens Open Day
May 28-29: Hunter Region Botanic Gardens, Heatherbrae. Time: 9am-4pm.
This free weekend welcomes visitors to explore the gardens, the plant stall and book fair. The Gardens will host an open day on the Sunday from 10am-2pm. It will include guided tours, live music and market stalls.
Fingal Twilight Market
May 28: Fingal Bay foreshore (next to surf club). Time: 12pm-4pm.
Family friendly market by the beautiful Fingal Bay foreshore. The market features more than 80 stalls with a variety of products, many from local producers, live music, food and drinks.
Rock climbing Anna Bay
May 29: Iris Moore Reserve, Anna Bay. Time: 8.30am-12pm. Cost: $85.
Join Out and About Adventures and challenge yourself on this great rock-climbing adventure. Get the adrenaline pumping as you climb the sea cliffs at Anna Bay. All safety and climbing gear is provided, including climbing shoes. Instructors will work on helping you build good technique and confidence across the six to eight climbs of the session. Youth art prize exhibition
May 29: Lighthouse Baptist Church, Government Road, Nelson Bay. Time: From 11am.

Young parents group

For parents aged 25 years and under. Run regularly by Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Centre, the group offers a space where young parents can meet, share their experiences and parenting tips, access support, have some fun and relax.
