Port Stephens families will have the chance to meet firefighters, learn more about fire safety in the home and grab a sausage sizzle during the open day which will start at 10am and wind up 2pm.
A range of free activities will be on offer including firefighting demonstrations, station tours and fire safety presentations.
Firefighters will also be on hand to provide advice about installing or replacing smoke alarms.
Children will be able to see fire engines and firefighting equipment up close, plus they will take home a Brigade Kids activity booklet that teaches them fire safety lessons.
FRNSW mascot Bernie Cinders will make an appearance at the Raymond Terrace open day.
Raymond Terrace acting captain Allan Summers said the open day was a great opportunity for people to talk with the experts about making their homes fire safe ahead of winter and learn what FRNSW does in the community.
“This year we are reminding people about the wide range of our capabilities,” he said. “From chemical spills, car accidents and natural disasters to education, prevention and humanitarian relief… our firefighters are prepared fore anything, anywhere, anytime.”
The Raymond Terrace fire station is located on Leisure Way, near the swimming pool.
Salamander Bay fire station can be found on Salamander Way, opposite the Tomaree swimming complex.
