The 51-year-old woman died in John Hunter Hospital after she was taken to the hospital on Friday with multiple injuries.
The injuries were sustained at the woman’s Lemon Tree Passage home on Wednesday last week.
Chief Inspector Tony Townsend from Port Stephens-Hunter Police said inquiries were focusing on how the woman came to be injured. A post mortem examination will be conducted this week to formally determine the cause of the woman’s death.
“It could have been an accident or it could have been an assault; that’s why we are investigating,“ Inspector Townsend said on Tuesday.
Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to contact Raymond Terrace Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
