Members of the collective have been busy working on creating marine-inspired works in a wide variety of styles including pottery, glass, print, painting, photography and sculpture, which will be shown as part of the SALTED exhibition in the gallery at d'Albora Marina throughout August.
Additionally, works created for SALTED will be displayed in windows of 11 Nelson Bay CBD businesses which art-lovers will be able to view by following an art trail.
"We're really looking forward to this exhibition," collective member and artist Janet Mackintosh said.
"The group like to be involved in community events like Love Sea Food Tastes. This exhibition promotes another side to seafood.
"We're excited to be working with businesses in the Bay for the SALTED art trail.
"This art trail is a collaboration between community, creating foot traffic and drawing interest through the streets.
"This continues the collective's aim of engaging local community in art and activating public spaces."
Collective member and long-time potter June Wheen said she was excited to be part of the SALTED exhibition, which will launch in the gallery at 4pm on Saturday, August 3.
"I throw a lot of pots on the wheel but I often create little ceramic fish," Ms Wheen said.
"I love creating these little blue and white fish and showing the diversity of clay - that it doesn't just have to be a pot or plate.
"I feel like I can really contribute to the theme of this exhibition with my little fish. At the moment I'm making a large piece for the exhibition."
The collective's gallery will be filled with SALTED artworks for the month of August and will be the first stop of the art trail.
Members of the public interested in walking the art trail will be given directions from the collective's gallery attendants.
The trail takes people for a gentle walk along Stockton, Magnus, Yacaaba and Donald streets to view between two and three artworks in shopfront windows.
