The Marauders men booked their ticket into the 2020 NHRU Rams Cup divisional grand final following a dominant 23-0 preliminary final win against Cooks Hill on Saturday.
"Defence and our set piece won us [Saturday's] match," Marauders player-coach Tim Lancaster said. "The whole squad played as one team and we were able to neutralise the Snakes' attack time and time again."
Lancaster praised winger Orisi Vosuqa for his "best on field" performance against Cooks Hill.
"[He] pulled off the hit of the year and put his body on the line all game."
Lancaster also praised Marauders forwards Adam Beehag, Zion Takarua, Dan Collins and Jordan Byfield for working themselves into the Snakes 'red zone' with some "impressive pod work".
Lock Adam Beehag was first to cross the line for the Marauders seven minutes into the game. Vosuqa raced 30 meters to bag himself a try in the corner.
Minutes before the halftime bell sounded, flanker Jordan Byfield scored a try to put the Marauders in the lead 15-0.
Despite testing the Marauders' defence in the second half, the Snakes were not able to hold onto the ball long enough to put any points on the scoreboard.
Marauders captain Eric Tolhurst extended Medowie's lead a further three points before halfback Daniel Murphy helped put centre Taniela Rabolalele into space to go 35m through several Snakes defenders to score the final try of the game out wide.
Medowie now face The Waratahs who defeated Pokolbin 32-10 to earn their spot in the divisional grand final, which will be played at Newcastle's No. 2 Sportsground on Saturday, October 24 at 4.20pm.
