One of the Port's leading life coaches and mentors has just added best-selling author to her incredible biography.
Boat Harbour's Fiona Brown, who is in her second term as president of Port Stephens Women In Business, was excited this week to announce that she is now the proud co-author of an Amazon best selling publication, Change Makers.
The 53-year-old mother of two is one of 25 women worldwide sharing her powerful and inspirational story, opening up about how life changes have shaped her success as a business woman and life coach.
"I have always been a collaborator and I have always wanted to write ... now that I have co-authored my first book I feel I am ready to go out on my own. I have already put down some words and have the ideas in my head for my first solo published works," Ms Brown said.
"For me, stories are a great metaphor for change. Whenever we go through change it helps to know that we are not doing it alone ... that others have paved the way for permission to create change.
"Mine is one of 25 stories in the book told by successful women from all around the world and I believe that all stories will touch someone is some way."
Born in Sydney one of nine children, Ms Brown worked for 30 years in the medical profession, predominantly in rural western NSW, before transitioning from nurse to clinic consultant to coach and mentor.
Today her list of accreditations and achievements is extraordinary.
In addition to her voluntary work with PSWiB, she is a personal leadership and life coach, coach/mentor trainer, master practitioner NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Matrix therapies, conscious hypnotherapist, Rikki master, workshop facilitator and public speaker.
"My eyes were opened to the world of goal setting and personal leadership through various programs and courses I was able to complete after becoming involved in a youth leadership coaching program."
Since moving to Port Stephens three years ago with husband Dave and two adult children, Fiona Brown has established her own business called Youtopia Wellbeing and embraced the coastal lifestyle.
Her opportunity to contribute to Change Makers came through her participation in a program run by the Speakers Institute, where she is a student.
"I was invited to be part of the book after the publisher had reached out and sampled some of my work."
Ms Brown said despite a tight deadline, she was able to complete the 3000-word narrative with ease and says she feels honoured to have been able to contribute to a best-seller.
The book is available for sale through Ms Brown on 0407 727 083 or at browns67@bigpond.com. Cost is $26.99 including delivery in the Bay.
