Port Stephens Council's It's on! series will make a return in November after the six month trial of "place activation" activities, launched in June, was put on hold when the Hunter was plunged into a lockdown at the start of August.
Funded through Nelson Bay's smart parking scheme, the council will trial a range of activities to create an annual program for the town.
"We'll test all aspects of the process and we'll be asking for feedback throughout to make sure we get the best outcome for our community, businesses and visitors," a council spokeswoman said in June when the It's on! series was launched.
"This data will help us deliver an annual place activation program for Nelson Bay which will continue to bring vibrancy and life to our streets."
As part of the It's on! series, instructors from Nelson Bay's Our Gym will run free and COVID-Safe boot camp sessions in Apex Park on Tuesday mornings at 7am.
Lunchtime Acoustic sessions will return to Apex Park on Thursdays, beginning on November 4.
Musicians will perform live and free in the park from 12pm to 2pm each Thursday. People are encouraged to enjoy their lunch in Apex Park to the sounds of live music.
Saturday Sessions will return to Apex Park on November 6. Musicians will perform live and free in Apex park each Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.
Homegrown will return to Nelson Bay's foreshore on Saturday, December 4 from 4pm to 8pm. The market specialises in handmade, eco and local designs.
Prior to the lockdown, the It's on! series also included a yoga and children's activities in Apex Park, rock 'n' roll dancing on the Stockton Street stage and story time for pre-schoolers in the Yacaaba Street extension.
